COFFEE LOVERS LEARN AND UNDERSTAND THE HISTORY, EVOLUTION AND CULTURE OF ITALIAN COFFEE
From 15th July to 2nd August 2015, the Espresso Italiano Exhibition will feature at Scotts Square. This exhibition is curated by Luciano Calosso and Enrica Barbano from Colosseum Cultural Association and supported by Italian Cultural Institute in Singapore.
The Espresso Italiano Exhibition at Scotts Square enables coffee lovers to learn and understand the history, evolution and culture of Italian coffee – from origins of the expresso in the history of Italian traditions to the first espresso machine. The inaugural exhibition also showcases the developments of coffee culture from old coffee houses to hipster cafes; how coffee is depicted over the years in modern society advertising, cinema and art, testifying the different ways of tasting and preparing the drink.
The socio-cultural aspects related to coffee are presented with the help of reproduced paintings, which represent the rituals and methods of coffee drinking. In addition the exhibition features a selection of cinematic images that recall the myths of the big screen with steaming cups of coffee.
Espresso Italiano Exhibition at Scotts Square is happening from 15th July to 2nd August 2015 daily from 11am to 9pm at 6 Scotts Road, Level 1 Atrium, Scotts Square. FREE admission.
Ms Veronica Manson, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Singapore confirms that the Espresso Italiano Exhibition will depict a detailed history and heritage of Italian coffee as an art form, which raise awareness of an appreciation for coffee making.
