The Sandwich Shop That Stole Singapore’s Heart is Back for Good
Singapore’s cherished sandwich shop, KORIO, makes its triumphant return in an exciting partnership with Zouk Group. Nestled in the heart of the Central Business District, KORIO reopened on December 11, delighting fans who mourned its closure last year. Alongside familiar classics, the cult-favourite sandwich shop raises the bar with exciting new additions to its menu.
Helmed by husband-and-wife duo Myron and Shaz Tan, KORIO first gained fame in 2019 with its takeaway kiosk at Far East Square, serving masterfully crafted sandwiches and Brooklyn-inspired brioche doughnuts. Now operating out of a cozy 600-square-foot sit-in space at IOI Central Boulevard Towers, the duo continues to bring us their crave-worthy sammies.
Familiar & New Items On the Menu
Returning favourites include the Caprese Grilled Cheese (S$15) on whole wheat sourdough with American and cheddar cheeses and caramelized onions, and the Breakfast Sandwich (S$14) with crispy luncheon meat, slathered with creamy sauce gribiche (cold egg sauce) stuffed between soft brioche buns.
The expanded menu includes the simple but moreish Mortadella & Pickles (S$15.50), which combines grilled mortadella, provolone, and housemade pickles, topped with mustard mayo sauce for the perfect finish. Even if pickles aren’t your thing, don’t overlook them here – their sweet and tangy flavours just made everything tastier!
Another signature to try on the menu is The Chook ($17) a loaded chicken sandwich packed with chicken, avocado, brie, provolone, and hot sauce, all on perfectly crisp sourdough. The Lox (S$18.50) may seem like your typical smoked salmon baguette with herb cream cheese and capers, but KORIO adds their special touch with house-pickled beetroot for extra zest and texture.
Donuts for Dessert
You can’t miss out on KORIO’s donuts, especially the Cinnamon Apple Jam donut (S$5.50) with a delicate hint of the earl grey almond butter. The Cinnamon Sugar and Whipped Honey Butter (S$5.50) offers an aromatic kick with a velvety sweetness, while the Chocolate Ganache with Praline and Malt Powder (S$5.80) is a chocolate lover’s dream come true! We couldn’t get enough of the binge-worthy Mini Homer Donuts ($4), loved for their light, chewy texture.
