THE LATEST FOOD & DRINKS TO TEMPT YOUR APPETITE : WHAT’S NEW IN F&B MAY 2015
We have been nibbling on foods and sipping on drinks to check out what’s new and what’s been making news in Food & Drinks in Singapore recently. With so much choices for F&B; May you be ever satisfied these coming months.
BREAKFAST
Also know as the most important meal of the day, it surely is a meal worth making time for.
Like many, many people, we also find that bread is a good staple food to kick off the day. Time to sit down and enjoy a round of toasted bread or make a quick snack for a breakfast on the go, bread – more so, brown bread is the way to go for a healthy breakfast.
Sunshine Wholemeal Bread contains essential minerals, is a good source of protein, gives us our needed dietary fibre and vitamins. The Sunshine Wholemeal Bread range offers the following options;-
Extra Fine Sprouted Wholemeal – great for white bread consumers looking to make a switch to whole grains. Sprouted grains are whole grains and are gentle on our digestive system and have a lower glycemic impact to keep blood sugar healthy.
Classic – those who prefer a grainier and nuttier taste will love the Classic Wholemeal. This is actually our favourite and makes the best breakfast time toast (we add orange marmalade as our breakfast spread).
Multi-Grain – this enriched loaf contains nutrient-rich whole grains and seeds and, again, is a good choice for those who prefer a grainier and nuttier taste.
Soft Grain – containing premium Australian rolled oats, this is high in fibre and another great grain option for your morning bread-filled breakfast.
Softmeal – this is easy on the palette and perfect if you need a quick bite of breakfast on the go.
Coffee fix and breakfast on-the-go grab the Sunshine Mocha Choc Wholemeal Cream Roll. Perfectly marrying the aromatic taste of freshly brewed coffee with a delicious, irresistible flavour of chocolate, this Cream Roll is, not only a yummy breakfast option but also a nutritious on-the-go breakfast for coffee lovers. Being high in calcium and iron, enriched in vitamins B1, B2 and B3 and containing probiotics that help with the growth of good bacteria for a better digestive system, this is a great breakfast choice and is endorsed by the Health Promotion Board’s Healthier Choice symbol so you really can indulge guilt free.
The Sunshine Bakeries products can be found at all leading supermarkets island wide.
LUNCH
For many of us the lunch option might involve a business lunch with colleagues, a casual lunch date with friends and even, on those busy days, a quick lunch on-the-go while working at your desk. So, what can we take for lunch that is healthy yet tasty?
Wraps are the way to go for a healthier and tidy option at lunch time as well as easy to prepare and pre-pack before heading out to work. Mission Wraps are fabulous filled with grilled or roasted meats such as chicken, lamb or beef and can really be packed full because they are made to hold any type of filling without splitting or tearing! What’s new in Mission Wraps is the Mission Curry Wraps – these are going to be popular with curry-loving Singaporeans as they have a delicious distinctive curry taste that comes from a special combination of sweet and savoury South Asian spices. The perfect union of cumin, aniseed, black peppercorns, chilli and coriander gives each Mission Curry Wrap a deep, earthy flavour whereas sweet spices like cinnamon, clove and cardamon rounds up the taste, giving it a mild and pleasant level of heat.
Mission Curry Wraps are available at all leading supermarkets in re-sealable packs of eight and retail at S$5.35 per/pack.
Working in the CBD just got tastier thanks to the third outlet of popular Mexican restaurant – Baja Fresh Mexican-Grill. Forget wilted salad and cold deli sandwiches and instead, head out for choices such as:-
Hearty, bold flavours of chicken tortilla soup,
Grilled shrimp and steak burrito,
Spicy chicken tacos.

AFTERNOON PICK ME UP
When the mid-day leaves you flagging and you need a pick-me-up treat, Afternoon Tea is the perfect option. With many well known cafes offering this option, we think Swensen’s is one of the most convenient due to their many locations island wide. the Swensen’s Ciabatta Tea Set features three ciabatta rolls served with homemade special honey buttercream and comes along with free flow of coffee, tea or soft drinks. All this is yours for just S$5.00

DRINKS TO HYDRATE AND ENJOY ALL DAY LONG
With the weather so hot and the days so humid, we really do need to stay hydrated. We have found some new drinks that are, not only packed with hydration benefits but are truly tasty beverages.
Long before coconut water took the West by storm, it has been a popular drink the tropics but while each coconut may contain 200ml to 1000ml of water – depending on its cultivar type and size – it is a tough nut to crack and is therefore understood why packaged coconut water is such a hit with consumers.
We can now enjoy CocoLife packed with naturally-occurring electrolytes, contains no artificial flavours and is never from concentrate. What’s more, CocoLife contains no fat, no cholesterol, no artificial flavours and is certified as a Healthier Choice food by the Health Promotions Board.
CocoLife is available in a handy 330ml pack for $1.50 at major supermarkets and $2.30 at convenience stores.
Japanese Green Tea has been captivating taste buds the world over, and we have enjoyed sipping new OISHI Green Tea brought to Singapore by F&N Foods. This is made from 100% organic green tea leaves, is brewed to tasty perfection, contains no added preservatives or artificial colourings. This great tasting thirst quencher is a well-rounded subtly crisp taste with a tinge of pleasant vegetal and jasmine note.
Also available is OISHI Green Tea with Genmai which delivers a nice nutty flavour along with Japanese Green Tea.
OISHI Green Tea Original and OISHI Green Tea with Genmai are available at major supermarkets priced at $1.00 (380ml) and $2.05 (1.5L).
